Effective date: 19 August 2026  ·  Local Leads  ·  hello@localleads.nz
This Privacy Policy explains how Local Leads collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit or engage with us through localleads.nz. We comply with the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand).

1. Who We Are

Local Leads is a New Zealand-based digital marketing agency providing local SEO and related services to small service businesses across New Zealand. We operate the website localleads.nz.

For any privacy-related enquiries, contact us at hello@localleads.nz.

2. What Information We Collect

We collect personal information when you:

  • Submit an enquiry via our contact form (name, email address, phone number, business name, and message)
  • Use one of our free tools - Check My Rank, Google Maps Rank, Missed Leads, Site Health, the Opportunity Report or the Website Demo. Depending on the tool this includes your business name, website address, suburb, trade, average job value and email address
  • Sign up to receive information about our services
  • Communicate with us by email or phone
  • Engage us as a client and complete our onboarding process

We also collect technical data automatically when you visit our site, including:

  • Pages visited, time on site, and the actions you take such as starting a tool or submitting a form
  • Approximate location (city/region level), device type and browser
  • Referring source - how you found our website, including whether you arrived from an advertisement
  • A recording of your session, including mouse movement, scrolling and clicks, captured by Microsoft Clarity

Some of this technical data, in particular cookie identifiers used for advertising, may be capable of identifying you indirectly when combined with information held by the third parties described in section 4.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the personal information you provide to:

  • Respond to your enquiry and assess whether our services are a good fit
  • Onboard and manage your client relationship if you engage us
  • Deliver monthly SEO reports and service communications
  • Manage your Google Business Profile and other platforms on your behalf
  • Comply with our legal and contractual obligations

We use analytics data to improve our website and to measure which of our marketing activity produces enquiries.

Where you have used one of our free tools, the business name, website address and location you provide are sent to our search data provider and, in some cases, to an AI service that helps draft the wording of your report. This is automated processing of the information you submitted about your business. It does not make any decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and a person reviews any recommendation before we act on it.

We also use advertising cookies to show our ads to people who have visited our website, and to build audiences of people with similar characteristics. This is a form of profiling for marketing purposes. It does not involve automated decision-making about you as an individual, and you can opt out using the controls in section 7.

4. Analytics, Session Recording and Advertising

Our website uses the following third-party tools. Each sets its own cookies or similar identifiers and processes data under its own privacy policy.

  • Google Analytics 4 - measures traffic, which pages you visit and which actions you take, such as running a tool or submitting a form. Processed by Google (policies.google.com/privacy). You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Meta Pixel - records that you visited our website so we can measure our advertising and show ads to you on Facebook and Instagram. Processed by Meta (facebook.com/privacy/policy). You can control this in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings.
  • Microsoft Clarity - records your session, including mouse movement, scrolling and clicks, so we can see where the website is confusing. Processed by Microsoft (privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement).
  • HubSpot - our customer relationship system. It sets a cookie that links your enquiry to the pages you viewed before submitting it, and powers the chat widget. Processed by HubSpot (legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy).

Meta and Google are located outside New Zealand, so using our website involves your information being transferred overseas. Both are subject to their own regulatory regimes, which may differ from New Zealand law.

5. Form and Tool Data

When you submit our contact form or request a report from one of our free tools, your details are sent to HubSpot, our customer relationship system, and a notification is emailed to us. If HubSpot has previously set a cookie in your browser, your submission is linked to the pages you viewed before it.

Where a tool emails you a report, the report is delivered using Resend, an email delivery service. Our website is hosted on Netlify, which processes the technical request data needed to serve the site and run our tools.

We retain enquiry and tool submission data for up to 24 months for business records purposes.

6. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share your information only with:

  • Our internal team members who need it to deliver your services
  • Regulatory or law enforcement authorities if required by law

We also use the following third-party providers to operate our website and services, each only to the extent necessary:

  • HubSpot - customer relationship management, forms and chat
  • Netlify - website hosting and the functions that run our free tools
  • Google - Workspace for email, Analytics for measurement, and Maps and PageSpeed services used by our tools
  • Meta - advertising measurement and audiences
  • Microsoft - Clarity session recording
  • Resend - delivery of the report emails our tools send
  • DataForSEO - the search ranking data behind our tools. It receives the business name, website address and location you enter, not your email address
  • Anthropic - an AI service used to help draft the written commentary in some reports. It receives the business information you submitted and the search data returned for it. It does not receive your email address, and your inputs are not used to train its models
  • OpenStreetMap - converts the suburb you type into coordinates so we can check rankings as a local searcher sees them

Several of these providers are located outside New Zealand, which means your information may be stored or processed overseas.

7. Cookies and Your Choices

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

  • Necessary - to serve the website and run our tools.
  • Analytics and session recording - Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and HubSpot, to understand how the website is used and to link an enquiry to the pages that led to it.
  • Advertising - the Meta Pixel, to measure our advertising and show our ads to people who have visited the website.

By continuing to use our website you consent to these cookies. You can withdraw that consent at any time:

  • Control or delete cookies through your browser settings
  • Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on
  • Adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account settings
  • Turn on "Do Not Track" or use your browser's tracking protection, which blocks most of these tools

Blocking these cookies does not affect your ability to use our website or our free tools.

8. Data Storage and Security

Your personal information is stored in secure cloud-based systems. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse through access controls and encrypted communications.

If you have concerns about a potential security issue, contact us immediately at hello@localleads.nz.

9. Your Rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ), you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Ask us to delete your personal information (subject to our legal obligations)
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@localleads.nz. We will respond within 20 working days.

10. Retention

We retain client information for the duration of our business relationship and for up to 7 years after it ends, in line with standard NZ business record-keeping obligations. Enquiry data from non-clients is retained for up to 24 months.

11. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to external sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies independently.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be published at localleads.nz. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
